Marfan syndrome, a condition of the connective tissue, displays itself differently in different people. Since connective tissue is everywhere in the body, many body systems can be affected. Some children may be mildly affected by it while others may have severe conditions as a result. The key for you and your child to live with this disorder is to obtain appropriate medical care, accurate information and social support.
At Loyola University Health System and the Ronald McDonald® Childrens Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center, you'll find a comprehensive clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of symptoms related to Marfan syndrome. This multidisciplinary clinic trims the time patients have to wait for treatment after being diagnosed with the inherited disorder.
The clinic features a full range of outpatient services provided by physicians and other health-care professionals at a single location, Loyolas Oakbrook Terrace Medical Center. A professional registered nurse coordinates outpatient and inpatient care with the appropriate physicians. The team of Loyola specialists dedicated to the Marfan syndrome clinic includes pediatric cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, orthopaedic surgeons and geneticists.
