Loyola’s pediatric cardiovascular specialists at the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola, help children with heart defects lead active, normal lives. Our pediatric cardiologists provide specialized diagnostic services and tertiary care for newborns and children with congenital or acquired heart defects or dysrhythmias, and provide continual care through adulthood. Our specialists use the latest technologies to close certain holes in the heart, open narrow valves and correct some congenital heart defects and abnormal heart rhythms without surgery.
Trained to care for both pediatric and young adult cardiology patients, our experts perform a broad array of advanced diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures. In all cases, our goal is to optimize the outcomes and minimize the hospital stay of young patients with heart conditions.

Intrauterine Diagnosis
Pediatric cardiologists can detect fetal heart defects or dysrhythmias before birth. Diagnosing serious heart defects as early as 20 weeks into pregnancy provides the opportunity to prepare for possible complications during delivery.
Radiofrequency Ablation
Cardiac electrophysiologists correct certain congenital heart defects and abnormal heart rhythms without surgery.
