Community Outreach: Pediatric Mobile Health Unit

The pediatric mobile clinic of the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center is a children’s clinic on wheels serving underprivileged communities in the Chicago area. The first of its kind in the Midwest, the clinic provides medically underserved children ages 0-18 with vital health care services that they might not otherwise receive.

Services on board the 13-ton, 40-foot mobile health clinic include:

Routine physicals
Immunizations
Vision screening
Audiology, hearing, screening
Lung function screening
Asthma care
Ongoing asthma education and intervention is provided at two area school with a high incidence of asthma
Lead screenings
Childhood disease prevention & education
Childhood health promotion
Injury prevention and education
Nutrition Education

The services offered by the Pediatric Mobile Medical Unit are without regards to an ability to pay, thanks to support from the Wallace D. Johnson Children’s Care Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago and Northwest Indiana as well as other generous grantors.
