The Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola strives to provide spiritual support for families coping with an illness or injury of a child through our chaplain services. Chaplains help families who are searching for meaning and hope in dealing with illness, loss, grief, change, relief, discouragement and gratitude. They also help with ethical decisions regarding continuing or discontinuing treatments.
A chaplain is available at the hospital 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Bereavement groups are offered for parents who have lost a child and for children who have lost a sibling. Memorial services, to honor and remember children who have passed away, also take place annually. Chaplain services, for all faiths, are provided to the patients and their families free of charge.
