Loyola
University Health System (Loyola) is nationally recognized
for its specialty care and research in organ transplantation.
In the intra-abdominal transplantation program, a highly
specialized medical and surgical team provides comprehensive
care for transplantation of the liver, kidney or pancreas.
The establishment of this program reflects major progress
made in the last decade in the management of these often
complicated conditions and in patient survival. Goals
of this program are to provide optimal patient care
and further the understanding of transplantation through
education and research. Support groups also are available
for patients and families.

Kidney
Transplantation
Loyola has more than 30 years of experience in restoring
patients with end-stage kidney disease to well being
and normal energy levels.
Liver
Transplantation
Initiated in 1997, Loyola’s liver transplant program
has an above average 93 percent success rate.
Research
Studies
continue in the preservation of organs, use of extracorporeal
liver assist devices and immune suppression.
