General Dentistry
Loyola University Health System (Loyola) has a full-service oral health center with dentists on staff to handle your dental needs.
Preventive Care
Preventive dental care involves a professional cleaning of your teeth and examination for cavities as well as a general assessment of your overall oral health.
Preventive care services include:
Cosmetic
Dentistry
The Loyola Oral Health Center offers several options
to correct stained, chipped or misshapen teeth. All
can help you improve your smile.
- Tooth
color restorations (fillings)
-
Enamel shaping
-
Teeth whitening
-
Veneers
Dental
Implants
For some people who have lost teeth in an accident or
due to disease, dental implants offer a feel and look
very similar to their own teeth. Titanium posts are
surgically placed beneath your gums, and then artificial
teeth are attached to the post. This offers a stable
support and the teeth appear very natural.
Pediatric
Dentistry
Pediatric
dentistry is that branch and specialty of dentistry
concerned with providing primary and comprehensive dental
care for infants and children through adolescence.
Restorative
Dentistry
Restorative dentistry refers to the restoration of natural
teeth that have been damaged, decayed or lost. This
is accomplished by the placement of either crowns,
which are hand-made replicas of your real teeth that
are cemented permanently in place, or bridges, which
are used to replace one or more teeth. The dental staff
at Loyola Oral Health Center is skilled at fitting both
types of restorations. The use of crowns or bridges
is dependent on the teeth being replaced as well as
the surrounding teeth.
Periodontal
Care
During
a periodontal examination at the Loyola Oral Health
Center, a dentist will examine your gums for signs of inflammation
or bone loss. Dental X-rays may be taken to look at
the bone structure that supports your teeth and to detect
other problems not visible during your examination.
Treatment for periodontal disease may include:
- A deep cleaning
- Medications
- Surgery
Removable
Full and Partial Dentures
Your overall confidence and well-being can suffer if
all or some of your teeth are missing. The Loyola Oral
Health Center can create removable full or partial dentures.
These artificial teeth are individually fitted to maximize
your comfort.
