| MAYWOOD, Ill. -- Loyola University Medical Center ranked among the top hospitals in the world in a recent research competition for pathologists in training.Loyola was tied for the top nine programs in the number of scientific studies accepted in the Stowell-Orbison Awards competition sponsored by the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP). One hundred academic programs worldwide participated in the competition. Medical students, residents, fellows and PhD candidates in pathology competed in the Stowell-Orbison Awards. Winners were awarded for the best poster presentations of scientific studies at the USCAP annual meeting. In a letter to Loyola pathologist Dr. Eva Wojcik, USCAP Executive Vice President Dr. Fred Silva wrote:"It is obvious that you and your program have worked hard to mentor this very important group of young pathologists and you should be very proud of this major accomplishment. These young pathologists are obviously the future of our profession."Wojcik is Chair of the Department of Pathology, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
