| Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing Professor Inducted for Contributions in Research |
| MAYWOOD, Ill. -- Linda Witek Janusek, PhD, RN, has been inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Janusek is a professor at Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing (MNSON) and a graduate faculty member of the Neuroscience Program and Breast Cancer Research Program at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM). She was inducted at the academy’s 36th Annual Induction & Soiree earlier this year. “It was an honor to be recognized for my achievements and a privilege to be included among an esteemed group of fellows,” said Dr. Janusek. “I look forward to working with the academy to lead the nursing profession, as our health care system continues to evolve.” Dr. Janusek was among 98 fellows who were inducted into the academy. She was named a fellow for her achievements and contributions in the field of nursing. Dr. Janusek is a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded researcher whose work focuses on understanding the body’s response to physical and psychosocial environmental stressors. “Linda has made significant contributions to advance nursing research,” said Nancy Hogan, PhD, RN, FAAN, associate dean for research and distinguished professor, MNSON. “Her work has provided valuable insights that continue to guide our profession.”Dr. Janusek received her bachelor of science in nursing from Bradley University and her PhD in physiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also completed post-graduate work in molecular biology at the Marine Biology Laboratory in Woods Hole, Mass. Dr. Janusek was the recipient of a National Research Service Award pre-doctoral fellowship, and she conducted post-doctoral work in sepsis as a member of a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute project research team at SSOM’s Department of Physiology. She also has served as a member of the NIH Nursing Science initial grant review group. As a professor and scientist, Dr Janusek leads a multidisciplinary biobehavioral research team and mentors pre- and post-doctoral fellows and faculty colleagues.
