| LOYOLA TO HOST END-OF-LIFE PANEL DISCUSSION IN HOMER GLEN |
| Program to focus on what to do, who to contact when loved one discontinues treatment for a terminal illness |
| MAYWOOD, Ill. -- If your child or another loved one has a terminal illness, making important end-of-life decisions could be more than you are able to handle. To help provide some assistance, the Loyola Center for Health at Homer Glen will host What to Do When Treatment Stops, a panel discussion and presentation about the options available when the decision is made to discontinue treatment for a terminal illness. The free event will take place from 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Loyola Center for Health at Homer Glen, 15750 Marian Drive, Homer Glen. Light refreshments will be served.A featured speaker that evening will be Dr. Charles Hemenway, director of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill. Hemenway is a physician and researcher who is internationally renowned for his work on childhood leukemia. Also speaking at the event will be:* Deidra Galik, R.N., Joliet Area Community Hospice.* Debbie Mitrakos, L.S.W., Joliet Area Community Hospice.Parking is free.
